From the Airport to Torre Ambar

Part One:  The Airport  

Arriving at a new place can may seem confusing or overwhelming, but you can relax, tourists go in and out every day and the people here are so nice and willing to help if you need it.

Immigration

  1. After you deplane, follow the signs to immigration.

  2. You will wait in a line for passport control.  You only need your passport at this step, no other form.

  3. After clearing passport control, follow the signs to reclaim your luggage

Customs

  1. You need to have a completed custom’s immigration form.

    • They may have given you one on the plane.

    • If not, pick one up in displays on the columns in baggage claim

  2. After you retrieve your luggage, you will wait in another line for customs

    • They will collect the completed custom’s immigration form you as you are in the customs line

    • When called forward by the customs agent, place your bag on the scan belt 

Part Two: The taxi

  1. You will walk through a gauntlet of tourism vendors, some holding signs, all calling out to you, offering you a taxi.  Simply keep walking, ignore them or say, “no thank you.” 

  2. You will exit two sets of doors into the airport lobby.

  3. Once in the lobby, walk forward and slightly left to the three authorized taxi vendors windows.

    • Airport taxi rates are fixed by destination zone regardless of vendor.   Simply take mental note of which vendor you selected.

    • The taxi will cost about $350 MXP ($19 USD) for a car

    • You can pay with a credit card.   

  4. Tell them you are going to the “North Hotel Zone” (Zona Hotelera Norte) near Crown Paradise Golden. They will give you two pieces of paper -- one for you, one for the driver, who is outside.

  5. Go outside and go to the sign that has the logo of the particular taxi vendor you paid.

    • Hand the papers to the attendant

    • The attendant will call your car and will give one copy to the driver and the other to you.

    • They will load your luggage for you.  Tip the attendant a couple of dollars.

  6. Tell the taxi driver you are going to “Torre Ambar, next to Chedraui (shay-drow-ee) and near Crown Paradise Golden”

    Part Three: Our Apartment, Torre Ambar 704

The taxi ride will take about 10-15 minutes.  When you see the cruise ships docked on your right, you are just about there!

The building address is Calle Playa de Oro 107. 

Our apartment is Torre Ambar 704.   

The numbers 107 are displayed above and to the right of the building entrance.  There is no other sign. 

  1. You have already paid for the taxi, but tip your driver a couple of dollars if they helped you with your luggage.

  2. Please go to the reception desk and tell them you are staying in 704.   

    • The reception desk is staffed 24 hours they will buzz you in the main entrance.

    • If they are not there, on the keypad outside the main entrance enter  <key symbol> 1465 <key symbol>.

  3. After checking in, take the elevator to the 7th floor. 

    • The elevators are through the large door and on your left. 

    • Once you exit the elevator on the 7th floor,  704 is straight ahead all the way at the end.  

  4. Enter the custom door code sent to you into the electronic keypad to open the door.
